Sudoku with no subscription and no monthly fee
Many puzzle apps ask for a recurring payment. Hush asks for one optional purchase, and this page shows exactly what it unlocks.
Puzzle apps often ask for a payment that repeats: weekly, monthly or yearly. That can be a fair arrangement if you play every day, and some people prefer the flexibility. Many others would rather pay once and know exactly what they have. This page explains what Hush costs, what the free version includes, and how to check any app’s pricing before you commit.
A buyer’s checklist for sudoku pricing
Use these questions for any sudoku app, including the ones this site does not cover.
- Is it a subscription? Read the in-app purchases on the App Store listing. Words such as subscription, weekly, monthly or yearly point to a recurring charge.
- What is free, and what is limited? Check whether the free version has a puzzle limit, a difficulty limit or missing features, not just whether ads appear.
- What does the paid option unlock? A single purchase should cover what you care about most. Be specific about the difficulty levels and features it includes.
- Can you restore it? Look for a restore option, so a purchase is not lost when you reinstall the app.
- Does it remove ads? Some apps sell ad removal separately. The sudoku without ads guide explains the three kinds of ad-free apps.
- Can you cancel? Your Apple account settings list active subscriptions, and you can cancel them there.
A subscription can suit someone who plays heavily and wants to pay as they go. A one-time purchase suits someone who wants a fixed cost and no renewal. Neither is right for everyone, so it helps to know which one you are being offered.
What is free in Hush and what Hush Plus unlocks
Most of the game is free in Hush. The table shows the difference at the time of writing.
| Free | Hush Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | $4.99 once |
| Easy and Medium puzzles | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Daily puzzle | Every day | Every day |
| Hard and Expert puzzles | The first 10 solved | Unlimited |
| Play aids (notes, highlights, undo, hints) | Included | Included |
| Colour moods | One | All four |
| Ads | None | None |
Hush Plus is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, and Family Sharing is included with it. It unlocks Hard and Expert puzzles without limit, plus the other three colour moods: Morning, Dune and Lavender.
In practice, a one-time purchase means you pay once through Apple’s purchase system and keep the unlocks. There is no renewal to remember and no monthly charge to cancel.
Deciding whether it is worth it is simple. If you mainly play Easy and Medium, the free version covers you. If you want Hard and Expert puzzles beyond the first 10 you solve, Hush Plus is the part to consider, and it also adds the other colour moods.

Family Sharing, restoring and tips
Family Sharing is included with Hush Plus, so the purchase can be shared within your Family Sharing group. Family Sharing is an Apple feature, so check your own Family Sharing settings if you use it.
If you need to get Hush Plus back, use Restore Purchases in the app.
The optional tips are separate from Hush Plus. A Tea, A Breakfast and A Dinner support the app and unlock nothing, so you can play without them.
Where Hush sits next to other apps
Several apps in this comparison sell ways to remove ads or unlock features, and their listings differ. The question with these apps is usually whether a purchase removes ads, unlocks features or renews. At the time of writing:
- Sudoku.com lists a “No Ads” in-app purchase at $14.99 in the US App Store, and no subscription is listed. See the Sudoku.com alternative guide.
- Brainium Sudoku lists a “Remove Ads” in-app purchase at $11.99 (US).
- PeopleFun Sudoku lists an “Ads Free Subscription” at $2.99. Its listing does not show the billing period, so check it before you buy. The PeopleFun alternative guide has more detail.

- If you need another device or variant. Hush is for iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad with iOS 26 or later. There is no Android, Mac or web version, and no Killer Sudoku.
